From the East

Dear Brethren, Ladies, and Friends of McMillan Lodge,

I've composed this missive hundreds of times in my mind, and yet the words that come to mind are not even my own..."you, like myself, must be weary..." It's been my honor - the magnitude of which continues to surprise me - to have been Master of McMillan Lodge. I hope to be so honored again, so that I might join the lofty ranks of men like WBs Marvin Kuhn and Bill Walker as a three-timer"

In the small space this Bulletin provides, I want to say a simple thanks to everyone who participated - in big ways and small - to all of our endeavors. Thanks to our degree teams, our Nickel Pitch gang, the guys who delivered the Lilies.. Alex Gehler, for helping change my flat tire...please forgive me for not going into detail. There are just so many people to thank for so much.

Looking forward, I want to emphasize how vital it is that we all continue to actively participate in all of the ritual and social activities of this Lodge. While we have endeavored to preserve such wonderful traditions as the Family Picnic and Sweetheart's Night, I have come to learn that none of these things come together on their own. Amazing how much easier the picnic was with Jim Sizemore providing the water and how much help it was for Barry Reed to bring flowers to the Sweethearts Dance.

We all have pet projects and favorite activities...we all know how each lecture is to be delivered, and we all know those unspoken traditions - like turkey and pumpkin pie at the November Stated Meeting. It takes all of us - all of our skills and all of our unique experiences - to make successes of all of these events.

We've all done so much for so long; all that's ever asked of each of us by Masonry, and by McMillan Lodge...is a little more. Thank you all for your part in making the Mighty Mac worthy of its nickname, and may God Bless you all during this Holiday Season.

Your humble Bulletin Editor is happy to continue in this capacity as long as I'm able, and as long as I'm welcome in this position.
If you have any submissions for any bulletin, please note that traditionally, I begin to assemble information the Wednesday prior to the Stated Meeting, and submit it to the printer the morning after Stated. I will thank you in advance for any submissions, requests, and any assistance you can offer. My preference is to receive this by e-mail
(sdouglas@cinci.rr.com).
